Izzy Foreal. backstage at St Marys Leagues Club, 23/5/86. ‘Lemme at em’!
A rare shot at ‘Chaplin’s’ in Oxford Street Sydney, the venue opened by the owners of The Ball Pants. This is Izzy and Paul Abrahims – the band was ‘Frack The Bunt’. The Strauss amp belonged to Swiss Chris, who kind of played organ in the band (until a loan shark came in one night and repossessed all his gear from under him!) What an adventure this has been!
Now here’s a classic shot! The Zarsoff Brothers at Caesar’s Palace, Cairns, 1979. L to R: Bluey Zarsoff, Izzy Foreal, Terry Zarsoff, Bernie Zarsoff. We spent six weeks at Caesar’s, playing six brackets a night, six nights a week. We almost got sacked in the first week for not being ‘disco’ enough (and who knows what else), but by the end of the stint we had the place packed out, and we were re-booked six months later by popular demand. They wanted us to keep coming back, but by the end of 1980 they couldn’t afford us any more. We sure look tanned and extremely happy in this shot. Hmmm …
An extremely rare study of Izzy Foreal playing the drums – in rehearsal in the back shed at Wigram Road, Glebe, circa 1968. The name of the band has slipped my mind, but we never did a gig (or maybe we did one or two, but I played bass … the details may return in a moment of clarity).
